This 70s architectural home was bought with the intention of renovating and extending so we worked with the client from day one, Tony even went to the open home with the client.
Project Overview
Stunning transformation in secluded Kiwi bush with cliff edge 70s architectural renovation and extension
We worked together to design the upper level add-on of 3 bedrooms and bathroom and a lounge. Once this was completed we started on replacing the rest of the asbestos roofing and swapping out joinery in other parts of the house. Some front door landscaping was also completed to finish off the transformation.

Cantilevered pool and stepped decks to make use of dead space
As we do our best to maintain our client relationships we were then asked to return a couple of years later and add in the pool and decking to add to this already unique home. The cantilevered pool design became an incredible feature of the house with construction of it being technical and time consuming but the result was worth it.

In 2019 and into 2020, Buchanan Construction assisted us with a major house extension, adding an additional floor to our home with three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a living space. The project transformed our two-bedroom house into a spacious five-bedroom home. Perfectly suited to our growing family while thoughtfully retaining the original architectural character of our 1970s design. The project was well-managed, and we absolutely love the result. In 2023, when we decided to add a pool, we didn’t hesitate to bring Buchanan Construction back, this time alongside Epic 360. They helped us open up our living space and undertook a major landscaping project, including the construction of a concrete pool on a steep slope with limited access. We couldn’t be happier with the quality and attention to detail, exceeding our expectations once again.
